Dead until dark - fifth and last post

The girl Bill brought into the bar was a gift from Eric, a thanks for helping out. Bill had her sent back, and Sookie and Bill went on a date.
Afterwards Bill drop Sookie of at her place. When Bill had left and when Sookie had just shut the door something hit it. It was her cat, killed by strangling. Sookie was worried that a murderer was nearby. The same murderer that had killed Maudette, Dawn and Sookies´ grandmother.

A few nights later Bill tell Sookie he have to leave for a few days. He leaves a friend behind to keep Sookie safe from the murderer. The friend was called Bubba, and he was very familiar. Ha was a singer when he was a human but he was never the same after becoming a vampire. He was the one and only king. He was Elvis Presley.

One night Sookie met a collie outside Merlotte´s. It was homeless so Sookie brought it home. Later the dog fell asleep next to Sookie. In the morning it was not a dog laying in the bed beside her, but a human. It was Sam, her boss. At first she freaks out but when she calms down Sam tell her hi is a shape shifter. Sookie is mad at him because he intruded on her personal life, so she threw him out.

Some nights later Sookie heard something outside her window. She got up to see what it was. Nothing! Sookie was worried, and Bubba was nowhere to be seen. She decided to call the police but her phone was dead. The closest house was Bills´. She decided to run through the woods and over the cemetery.
The killer catch up to her, it was Rene Lainer. He attacks, still with vampire blood in her system she fights back when he tries to kill her. Sookie stabs him with a knife she managed to take from him. Then she manage to get to Bills´ house, and dial 911 before she colaps.

She wakes up in the hospital where the police tell her that Rene has been caught. Later Bill comes to visit to make sure she is all right. Eric and Sam also make a quick and odd stop by.

That's where the story ends.

In this book the vampires live among humans, they can even order blood in bars. The reason to why Rene kill people was because they where fang bangers, people who sleep with vampires. The first one he killed was his one sister.

As I mentioned before the book stayed interesting and I hope the others will to. I liked the book, and the story was well thought through.

Here is a list of following books.

Living dead in Dallas
Club dead
Dead to the world
Dead as a doornail

Dead until dark - fourth post

DEAD UNTIL DARK

This post will be short, I haven´t had the time to read. I am hoping you might be able to wait another week for the final. Anyway...

The vampire Eric, wanted Sookie to find a thief among his employees with her mind reading. Sookie read the minds of some humans and found out that a vampire called Long Shadow took the money. He got angry and attacked Sookie. When Eric killed him some blood entered Sookies mouth.

The next day Sookie worked, feeling strong. She also found herself fast. In just 30 seconds she had sliced a basket of fruit. But she works on, mostly to read other peoples thoughts, Sookie is determined to find the killer, hoping he would come in to Merlotte´s. Without any luck.

Later in the evening Sookie decides to to visit Merlotte´s as a customer. Who if not Bill walks in to the bar, with another girl...

I like what I have read so far, the book just stays interesting all the time. It is hard to stop at a good place to write about what I have read.

Dead until dark - third post

Now I have read to page 198, and a lot have happened. The vamp-bar was visited by the police, luckily Sookie and Bill left before that.

Earlier Bill promised Sookies grandmother that he would speak to the decendence from the war. So he did. Sookie was there with her boss Sam, and afterwards they went to get some coffee. When Sam drops Sookie of at her place they do something Sookie did not expect. They kissed. Without a word Sam leaves. When Sookie enters she can feel something is wrong and it was not the kiss. It was something else. A smell… the smell of blood. She runs through the house only to find her grandmother in the kitchen lying dead on the floor. Bill showed up behind her, like out of nowhere. But he did not kill Adele Hale, someone else did, probably the same one who had killed the two girls, who now wanted to kill Sookie.
The funeral was filled with people. Even people Sookie did not know.

Afterwards Sookie stayed home a few days. With Arlene's help Sookie cleared out grams bedroom. When Arlene had left Bill stopped by… one thing led to another and they spent their first night together.
The night after Sookie was working and Bill came in to the bar. As he was about to leave Malcolm and Diane enters. (The vampires from Bills house, se first post.) I am not sure what they wanted but they sure were not nice.
Later Sookie visits at Bills house. She spends the night there only to wake up alone in his bed. She walks out to see Jason in his car. So she gets in. Jason told Sookie that their uncle died during the night. Sookie found that odd, because she told Bill about him yesterday. The uncle had been raping Sookie when she was a small kid. Sookie told her grandmother and never had to see the man again. Later on the day Sookie realize it was Bill who killed him. They got into a fight with one another.

Apparently the three vampires Liam, Malcolm and Diane had been causing some problems around Bone Temps. The humans living there are very irritated, so they burn down their house.  Sookie is worried that Bill might have been in the house. Sam comforts her and together they clean almost every inch of Sookies house.
When night comes Sookie takes a flashlight and walks out into the woods. When she comes to the cemetery she stops. Not knowing why or if he is even there, she calls out to Bill. Up from the ground he comes, covered with mud and dirt. Once again they spend the night together at Bills house.

A few nights later they spend the night together at Sookies house. Bill tells Sookie that Eric (the vampire from the vamp-bar) wants to meet Sookie. She does not like it and to make her stronger Bill want her to drink his blood, and she does.

The fact that Bill sleeps in the ground is fascinating, while other vampires sleep in coffins.
One thing I found annoying was that when the humans burned the vamp-house down they never considered that there might have been humans in the house. Meaning humans are just as bad as vampires.

Next I hope Sookie and Bill will find the murderer. I also hope something interesting happens with Eric.

I believe the author want to create an exiting feeling, making your heart pound faster when something exiting happens. This she does buy writing about deep feelings in intense moments.

When I read the part where Sookie was cleaning out her grandmothers room, it got me thinking. I would never be able to clean out my grandmothers room in one day. It would probably bring up too many feelings.

Dead until dark - second post

Sense last time I wrote I have read about two mysterious murders.
First Maudette. She was murdered in her bedroom. Maudette had been a plodder, never bright or ambitious. She was also a fang-banger, she liked being bitten by vampires. But that is not what killed her.
The other girl was named Dawn, she was also a fang-banger, and just like Maudette she was strangled to death. Like that was enough, Dawn had worked at the same bar as Sookie.
Sookie believes that the murders are connected to vampires and she visits a vamp-bar too find some information. But she is not there alone, Bill is next to her side all the time. They find out that both Maudette and Dawn had visited the bar.

One thing that annoyed me was that vampires can own there humans. If they say she is mine, no other vampire is allowed to touch her. But the vampire who own her drink her blood.

Next I hope someone else will die, someone who will help Sookie find the murderer.

I have met two new peoples. First JB, he is a guy Sookie went out with in school. He seems like the guy who would sleep with every good-looking girl, including Sookie. Then there was Eric, a handsome vampire Sookie met at the vamp-bar. he is many centuries old, and he wants Sookie. Even if that is breaking the rules.

Dead until dark - first post

Author: Charlaine Harris
Published: May 2001

CHARACTERS SO FAR
Sookie Stackhouse - Lead person.
Sam Merlotte - Bar manager/boss.
Mack Ratray and Denise Ratray - Kill vampires for money.
Arlene - Fellow waitress.
Rene Lainer - Arlenes boyfriend.
Jason Stackhouse - Sookies brother.
Bill Compton - The vampire, that Sookie likes.
Adele Hale Stackhouse - Grandmother to Sookie.

Sookie lives in Bone Temps with her grandmother, it is a small town in Louisiana. She works as a cocktail waitress in a bar. One day one of the most handsome guys comes in and sits down at one of her tables. The first thing she notices is that he is a vampire.
In this story people know that vampires exist. But Sookie is not affraid.
As many other Sookie have a secret... she can read minds. That makes life complicated for her, but then she notices that she can´t read the thoughts of vampires, that make her a little happier (one mind less to shut out).
The vampire, Bill, is tricked by two humans, the Ratrays, or the Rats as Sookie likes to call them. The Rats are drainers, they drain vampires on blood to earn some money. Vampireblood is good for humans if they are hurt, but it also works like a drug. Anyway, Sookie saves Bill from the Rats, which makes the Rats angry.
One day after work they show upp. With no one around they beat her to the edge of death. Luckily Bill shows up and rescues her. He gets rid of the Rats and gives Sookie some blood to save her life.
Bill has no problem with Sookie beeing able to read minds, when others think she is crazy, and one night they kiss.
One night, Sookie has been invited to Bills house, which is not far from where she lives. When she enters Bill is not alone as she thought he would be. There where three vampires and two humans in the house, other than Bill and Sookie. When Sookie by accident read one of the humans mind he jumped at her but Bill was there to help her. The human, Jerry, probably did not live much longer.
When Sookie and Bill said goodbye a misunderstanding happened and she ran to her car with tears in her eyes.

I have read two chapters, 73 pages. In the begining it was a litle hard to follow but it got easier. So far the story have been great and I am anxious to read some more.
One thing I did not like was that people thought Sookie was crazy, on the other hand it makes the story better.
One thing i thought was interesting was that Bill could float in the air, I did not mention that above.

Next I hope Sookie and Bill will get to a boyfriend girlfriend relationchip. I also believe that the vampires at Bills house will turn against Sookie and Bill.

The author describes a lot of environment but also a lot of feelings. For exampel if someone says "met me at the back door" it makes you think, there is a back door but where is it. Is it in the end of a corridor or in the kitchen? Sometimes she describes the environment very well and sometimes not. When she writes about feelings it is mostly Sookies feelings. She writes it so that you understand and can relate to them.

At the top i wrote a lot of names because I do not believe she would mention them if they did not have a purpose. People in the story often give the reader a better insight of the main character.
I have also noticed things that are different from similar books. In this book vampires can´t walk in the sun, they do not withstand silver and they do sleep in a secure place.
In, for examle Twilight, the vampires can walk in the sun, they kan handle silver and they do not sleep.
